Pair of earrings in the form of lion heads, decorated with thin filigree wire.

Lion was a common motif in the Hellenistic art. For the ancient Greeks, lion symbolised royal power and dignity, or was a symbol of the sun and heroic deeds. Because of what they represented and their unusual form, the local tribal aristocracy willingly accepted and wore these accessories.
